Cookie Policy

Last revised: 14 June 2026

fernsmith.my is a deliberately quiet website, and its cookie list is correspondingly short. This page explains what we store on your device, why, and how to change your mind.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text entries a website asks your browser to keep, either for the length of a visit ("session") or across visits ("persistent"). Related technologies such as localStorage work similarly — this policy covers those too.

What this site stores

  • PHP session cookie (PHPSESSID) — strictly necessary, session-only. It carries the security token that protects our booking form from forged submissions. It disappears when you close your browser and contains no personal information.
  • Cookie choice record (fs_cookie_ack) — a localStorage entry that remembers whether you pressed "Accept" or "Reject" on our cookie notice, so we do not ask you on every page. It stores only the word "yes" or "no".

That is the complete list. We run no advertising pixels, no cross-site trackers and no fingerprinting scripts. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, whose servers necessarily see your IP address when delivering font files; no cookie is set by that request.

Accepting and rejecting

On your first visit a notice appears at the top of the page with "Accept" and "Reject" buttons. Because the two entries above are strictly necessary for the site to function, they are set in either case; the choice you make is recorded so future optional additions (for example, simple visit statistics) would respect it. You can reopen the notice at any time via the small round button in the lower-left corner of every page, or the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer.

Clearing cookies yourself

Every modern browser lets you inspect and delete cookies and localStorage per site — look under Settings → Privacy (Chrome, Edge), Preferences → Privacy (Firefox) or Settings → Safari → Advanced (iOS). Deleting our entries simply means the cookie notice greets you again next visit.
